The Book of Ecclesiastes

Ecclesiastes - Chapter 2

Ecclesiastes 2:1 says, "I said in mine heart, Go to now, I will prove thee with mirth, therefore enjoy pleasure: and, behold, this also [is] vanity." "Mirth" means "gladness, joy, pleasure." Within his mind Solomon told himself I am king and decided that he was going to have a good time making merry, having fun, however after awhile that play-time lost its substance, meant nothing. There was nothing substantial to it and soon that feeling of emptiness (vanity) is felt and this is what happens when you cannot get pass the flesh, "the man that walks under the sun", that came from the dust and shall return to the dust.

Ecclesiastes 2:2 says, "I said of laughter, [It is] mad: and of mirth, What doeth it?" "Mad" means to boast, act like a fool." Acting like a fool, taking nothing seriously while you just let it all hang out as a good time charlie, is just plain emptiness.

Ecclesiastes 2:3 says, "I sought in mine heart to give myself unto wine, yet acquainting mine heart with wisdom; and to lay hold on folly, till I might see what [was] that good for the sons of men, which they should do under the heaven all the days of their life." Father said a little wine for the good of your stomach, your health, is fine (I Timothy 5:23), however he did not stay gallons and to the point of unreasonable intoxication. Drunkenness will certainly cause you to act as a fool, make foolish decisions and keep you on a path that leads to nothingness.

Ecclesiastes 2:4 says, "I made me great works; I builded me houses; I planted me vineyards:" Solomon is saying he had it all. His flesh being was lacking nothing when he looked at all his many, fine, expensive possessions.

Ecclesiastes 2:5 says, "I made me gardens and orchards, and I planted trees in them of all [kind of] fruits:" Ecclesiastes 2:6 says, "I made me pools of water, to water therewith the wood that bringeth forth trees:" "Gardens" means "paradise." Solomon tried to create and lavish himself in what he considered a paradise here on earth, within his flesh body, which is impossible. Everything Solomon had, all the great beauty was to satisfy the flesh. There is one Paradise and that is in Heaven and can only be created by our Father. Solomon had his own irrigation system to give his trees life; however he could not give himself life. There is only One Tree required to create great beauty, salvation, and He is our "Tree of Life, Christ Jesus" who is also our "Living Water." “The living fountains of water” is that nourishment for our souls, the “Living Water” received from our Shepherd, “Jesus Christ” which proceeds from the "Throne of Almighty God."

Ecclesiastes 2:7 says, "I got [me] servants and maidens, and had servants born in my house; also I had great possessions of great and small cattle above all that were in Jerusalem before me:" Solomon had what those before him dreamed about having. More servants, cattle, land then anyone ever had; yet, all his earthly possessions did not bring him happiness or peace of mind. Capturing and understanding life so that you are happy to be within these flesh bodies cannot be felt through possessions, it can only be felt through your spiritual relationship with Father God.

Ecclesiastes 2:8 says, "I gathered me also silver and gold, and the peculiar treasure of kings and of the provinces: I gat me men singers and women singers, and the delights of the sons of men, [as] musical instruments, and that of all sorts." "Gathered" means "collected." "Gat" means "to acquire, to appoint." Solomon had the greatest of fine treasures and oh what a choir and orchestra. Lots of enchanting treasures, listening to some awesome voices and music oh so sweet, one would believe this would make him very happy. All Solomon had to do was lift his hand and whatever he wished was before him, and still it was emptiness because none of these pleasures brought him peace of mind. Hear and understand what Solomon is teaching. (lucifer who is satan the anti-christ, was wealthy by means of commerce and head of the choir in Heaven as well, and he surely has no peace of mind, however he does have the promise of death of the soul.)

Ecclesiastes 2:9 says, "So I was great, and increased more than all that were before me in Jerusalem: also my wisdom remained with me." Solomon had many, many possessions, however his divine wisdom stayed with him in spite of these earthly things and this is why he is teaching and sharing these truths. He wants all to understand divine wisdom and not the wisdom of "the man who walks under the sun." This divine wisdom came to Solomon from Father God as is taught in I Kings 3:5 - 15, when Father asked Solomon what it was that he wanted most of all (ask what I shall give thee.) In responding, Solomon did not think of something for himself, he thought about his earthly father, just as we should think about our Heavenly Father always. He spoke with Father God from a humble heart and that is the same way that we should speak with Father, openly, honest and from a humble heart. Solomon was a young man sitting on the throne, a king over many people. He, as those just coming into understanding Father's Word, had the heart and mind of a child when it comes to understanding our LORD's truths. When Solomon answered Father as to what it was he wanted, he did not ask for anything for himself. He captured Father's heart when he asked for the wisdom to help and have an understanding heart toward others. This pleased Father in that he could have asked for many good things for himself, however he did not, Solomon asked Father to bless him to be a just (to act as a ruler, law-giver or judge or governor (of God) man. Father gifted Solomon with wisdom as no other has had, he a "man who walks under the sun (flesh body)." Father did this to bring forth His Word, which leads you to have peace of mind in this very troubled world we live in, that all who seek, ask and knock, will see the "Light, who is Christ Jesus, the Son of Father God Almighty" and not be lost in the darkness of satan. Our LORD added to the wisdom requested of Solomon all riches and long life as well "if" he walked the path of righteousness because he had humbled his heart before Father God. Solomon's meekness before Father God brought about his gift of divine wisdom, not the wisdom of the world which is emptiness. Having been told of receiving this gift, he did not wait to see if Almighty God would keep His promise, rather He accepted Father's Word with a trusting heart and immediately thanked our LORD by offering sacrifices. When you study the Word of Almighty God and understand His promises, claim them and thank our Father, acting according to His Will. Find peace of mind by gathering together, convening with Father God, asking Him for wisdom from a humble heart as you study "His Precious Word."

Ecclesiastes 2:10 says, "And whatsoever mine eyes desired I kept not from them, I withheld not my heart from any joy; for my heart rejoiced in all my labour: and this was my portion of all my labour." While you can find pleasure and enjoy your achievements, you cannot find peace of mind in those possessions you labored for here on this earth because these things are not eternal. Revelation 14:13 says, "And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed [are] the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them." This "labor" is your "righteous acts" while living in the flesh and this is the "work" that goes with your spiritual body to Heaven.

Ecclesiastes 2:11 says, "Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all [was] vanity and vexation of spirit, and [there was] no profit under the sun." All that you labor for while living in the flesh will surely fade away into the hands of another when your flesh body passes away. Only your spiritual works stay with you for all of Eternity. Also, even while you live within your flesh body, when you lie down at night and close your eyes for "rest", those possessions cannot do one thing to give you "peace." "Rest and peace of mind" comes by and from "Father God Almighty through Christ Jesus."

Ecclesiastes 2:12 says, "And I turned myself to behold wisdom, and madness, and folly: for what [can] the man [do] that cometh after the king? [even] that which hath been already done." Take the time to meditate on divine wisdom versus earthly wisdom. This is to say, you work very hard in the flesh to achieve a great lifestyle, you pass away and all you owned goes into the hands of someone else, and there is not a thing you can do about it. All the nice things of earth are temporary. Divine wisdom and righteous acts are eternal.

Ecclesiastes 2:13 says, "Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness." It is better to understand things as they truly are than to fool yourself into believing a farce when you should accept and deal with whatever recklessness confronts you. Do not be a procrastinator or try to avoid issues as if they do not exist. You best meet them head on because they are not going anywhere. Show you have wisdom and seek Father God for divine guidance. You will surely need it when darkness, who is satan, the anti-christ, is cast to this earth to perpetrate the greatest deception ever to be known to mankind.

Ecclesiastes 2:14 says, "The wise man's eyes [are] in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all." The same thing happens to all people, be they the wisest or a fool, all shall pass away, or, be changed from a flesh to a spiritual body when Christ Jesus returns. Death does not discriminate and does not care about your status and what you have obtained in your flesh life. Father cares though. He cares as to whether or not you have righteous acts accomplished while in the flesh since these are the only treasures that will follow you to the Eternal Age; Heaven.

Ecclesiastes 2:15 says, "Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also [is] vanity." Solomon was wise because he loved Father God and wanted to bring Him pleasure, which is the reason we were created as is taught in Revelation 4:11. It is necessary that your spiritual body have dominion over your flesh body so you are not removed from the path of righteousness. When you are consumed with achieving earthly treasures which brings about emptiness, you can be fairly sure your spiritual treasures are falling way short.

Ecclesiastes 2:16 says, "For [there is] no remembrance of the wise more than of the fool for ever; seeing that which now [is] in the days to come shall all be forgotten. And how dieth the wise [man]? as the fool." If you profess to be a wise person and leave Father God out of your life, you are no better than the fools who do not humble themselves before Father God, seeking wisdom. How wise can you be if you do nothing while living in the flesh to store up treasures for your eternal life in Heaven. If you turn your back or have no time for Father God while in the flesh, all that you have and accomplish is vanity, emptiness.

Ecclesiastes 2:17 says, "Therefore I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun [is] grievous unto me: for all [is] vanity and vexation of spirit." That is to say, therefore, there is not much pleasure in living in the flesh since it is a short life and ends too soon, and all the earthly possessions accomplished will not join your spiritual body when it returns to Heaven. Flesh is temporal and so are earthly possessions. Only Father God is Eternal.

Ecclesiastes 2:18 says, "Yea, I hated all my labour which I had taken under the sun: because I should leave it unto the man that shall be after me." When you have achieved many earthly things, there is always the worry of passing away and being concerned if the one who receives your earthly gain will respect and continue it as you have. The truth of the matter is, once you pass away, you will no longer care about what you left behind, who will get it and how it will be spent or taken care of. This is why, while you want to have comfort in your flesh life, your concern of treasures should be for your spiritual life because unlike earthly possessions, your righteous acts "do" follow you to Heaven.

Ecclesiastes 2:19 says, "And who knoweth whether he shall be a wise [man] or a fool? yet shall he have rule over all my labour wherein I have laboured, and wherein I have shewed myself wise under the sun." You have no idea really if you are leaving your earthly possessions to someone who has some sense or a downright fool when you pass away. The good thing about that is you really will not care once you have passed away and you should not care while you yet live. The treasures you want to be concerned about are the spiritual ones since they go with you to Heaven and no one gets a share of your works. Serve Father God while in the flesh and receive your rewards when returning to the Heavenly realm, in the presence of our LORD God Almighty.

Ecclesiastes 2:20 says, "Therefore I went about to cause my heart to despair of all the labour which I took under the sun." People will bring depression upon themselves while they yet live worrying about who will get and what will be done with their earthly treasures.

Ecclesiastes 2:21 says, "For there is a man whose labour [is] in wisdom, and in knowledge, and in equity; yet to a man that hath not laboured therein shall he leave it [for] his portion. This also [is] vanity and a great evil." "Evil" means "calamity (disaster)." There are many who achieve much from their work while walking in the flesh, therefore leaving quite a bit of earthly treasures behind when they pass away. Then there is that lot of people who really tried very hard to stay on that road of what was needful for the flesh, therefore not having much to leave behind when they pass away. Fortunately, there are innumerable Heavenly rewards when you do not go against the oracles of Father God for the purpose of earthly gain, rather staying on that path that leads you straight into the outstretched arms of Father God who rewards endlessly when you have knowledge of and are a part of His Perfect plan.

Ecclesiastes 2:22 says, "For what hath man of all his labour, and of the vexation of his heart, wherein he hath laboured under the sun?" What difference does it make to all those "walking under the sun", flesh man, for all the work and frustration they went through while gaining their many earthly possessions, in the end; when death takes hold of their flesh body. When you pass away and they count up all your earthly accomplishments, what good thing will it do you? When you have true wisdom, you work and labor to receive blessings, rewards from Father God for being pleasing to Him while walking in the flesh, under His will while walking in the flesh, standing on the Rock of our Foundation, Christ Jesus, while living in the flesh, understanding and sharing His Good Gospel while living in the flesh, that your rewards shall be with you for all of the Eternity. "Bless the Name of our Father God Almighty, Faithful and True."

Ecclesiastes 2:23 says, "For all his days [are] sorrows, and his travail grief; yea, his heart taketh not rest in the night. This is also vanity." Earthly gain causes you to work hard and worry hard. They make it, worry about keeping it, who may be watching it, or who is around the corner trying to take it from them and those waiting for their demise. Earthly possession cannot and will not bring you peace of mind. Only Father God Almighty can when you take hold and anchor your life in our Living Word who is Christ Jesus. Your spiritual body must have dominion over your flesh body and find peaceful rest in our Lord.

Ecclesiastes 2:24 says, "[There is] nothing better for a man, [than] that he should eat and drink, and [that] he should make his soul enjoy good in his labour. This also I saw, that it [was] from the hand of God." This is not a teaching of "the man who walks under the sun (flesh man)", this is teaching of your spiritual body, your very soul. There is only rest, peace of mind and many good things in your life when the "Mighty Hand of Almighty God is upon you." You can only be pleasing to Father when you do what is right and you can only do what is right when you study His Word and understand His Truths, seeking, asking and knocking for that increase of understanding in the Name of Christ Jesus, who is our Living Word. Father is our love, peace, rest, comfort, joy and wisdom.

Ecclesiastes 2:25 says," For who can eat, or who else can hasten [hereunto], more than I?" There is nothing that you can do right without including Father God. There is no obstacle you can overcome without including Father God. You cannot pull the wool over His eyes since Father knows and sees all things and wants you to come before Him humbly. No need to stumble around in darkness when Father has stretched out His arms to you.

Ecclesiastes 2:26 says, " For [God] giveth to a man that [is] good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy: but to the sinner he giveth travail, to gather and to heap up, that he may give to [him that is] good before God. This also [is] vanity and vexation of spirit." The "Hand of Father God" is upon all of His children who love Him, study and share His Word, standing on the Rock of our Foundation who is Christ Jesus. Storing your treasures in Heaven, pleasing Father God according to His Word, you can be assured that He will make your way better while walking under the sun within your flesh body. However if you chose to do it on your own, not respecting our Father God, more consumed with earthly pleasures, there will always be holes in your basket and obstacles in your path (vexation). Christ Jesus was born from above to be a Sacrifice for our sins, and while He was yet with us, showed us the way, the path, the truth, to Eternal life. As the very elect, having that wisdom only Father God can give, it is your duty to be pleasing to Father God and share your knowledge wherever it will be heard. Father God will surely bless you when you are a blessing to others. To those who are still void of Father's Truths sealed within your minds, spend some time with Christ Jesus, who is our Living Word and receive the blessings of Father God!~
